Facts

Exposing the tumour to air will make it spread.

Air does not make tumours spread and surgery may

be the best option for many people with early-
stage lung cancer.

After you have a lobectomy, you are cured and won’t need to see your doctor anymore.

Patients usually are scheduled for a postoperative
visit about a month after surgery to check on how
the recovery is going.

Patients will need to be on long term oxygen support after the surgery.

Most patients need oxygen temporarily and return to normal breathing function shortly after.

Patients need to stay in the hospital for weeks after the surgery.

Most patients typically stay in the hospital for two
to four days following a lobectomy, depending on their recovery and the surgical approach used.
