Why did it happen
-
Heart Failure – This occurs when the heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. It is a serious condition that worsens over time, and you may have trouble completing everyday tasks.
-
Cardiomyopathy – In this condition, the lower left chamber of the heart (the left ventricle) becomes so enlarged that it can no longer pump blood effectively to the rest of the body.
-
Valvular Heart Disease – The heart’s valves may be abnormally formed or damaged, preventing them from functioning properly and disrupting normal blood flow.
-
The primary goal in determining which patients need a heart transplant is to improve survival and quality of life.
-
If you are hospitalized and require continuous fluid support, doctors may recommend a heart transplant.
-
Similarly, if you are not currently hospitalized but have a history of frequent hospitalizations, require devices to assist with breathing, or are at high risk of death, you may be considered for a transplant.
