Causes

What may have caused the need for surgery?

  • Atrial Fibrillation: This irregular heart rhythm can lead to the formation of clots in the heart, which may travel to the brain.

  • Atherosclerosis: The buildup of fatty deposits in the arteries can cause narrowing or blockage, increasing the risk of clot formation.

  • Carotid Artery Disease: Stenosis or blockage in the carotid arteries can restrict blood flow to the brain, leading to stroke.

  • Recent Surgery or Trauma: Surgical procedures and injuries can trigger clot formation in response to vascular damage or immobility, necessitating thrombectomy.

  • High Risk Factors: Hypertension, diabetes, smoking, and high cholesterol levels increase the likelihood of clot formation within coronary vessels.

  • Immobility: Prolonged immobility, such as during long flights or bed rest, can increase the risk of DVT and subsequent PE
