Preparation

How should I prepare?

  • Before your surgery, ensure you fast from midnight the day before and complete all required tests, such as an EKG, chest X-ray, and blood tests.

  •  For the first few weeks after surgery, you will not be able to drive or perform much physical activity, so it is important to arrange help and have someone stay with you for the first 1-2 weeks.

  • Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures and follow a heart-healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins while limiting saturated fats.

  • Quitting smoking before surgery is crucial, as it improves blood flow and reduces the risk of complications.

  • Gradually increasing physical activity before surgery can help improve cardiovascular fitness, and hiring help for the first week at home is recommended to assist with daily tasks and support your recovery.

  • A Pre Surgery Check list
