Preparation
How should I prepare?
-
The night before surgery you should shower and not have anything to eat or drink after midnight.
-
You may be asked to stop taking blood-thinning medicines.
-
Maintain a healthy lifestyle prior to surgery, including a balanced diet, adequate hydration, and avoidance of smoking or alcohol, which can impact recovery.
-
Arrange for someone to drive you home post-surgery, as you will be under general anesthesia and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
-
Prior to surgery, your healthcare team will conduct tests such as an echocardiogram to evaluate heart function and ensure you are a suitable candidate for the procedure.
