Causes

Why did it happen

  • A lot of lung diseases can be treated by a lobectomy.

For example:

  • Tuberculosis: It is caused by a bacterium that travels through the air.

  • Lung abscess: Localized collection of pus within the lung tissue caused by an infection leading to inflammation.

  • Emphysema: It leads to the destruction of alveoli (tiny air sacs where oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged), leading to difficulty breathing.

  • Benign Tumour: This is a growth that is not cancer. It can press on large blood vessels and affect the function of other organs.

  • Lung Cancer: A group of cells that form a harmful tumour.

  • Trauma to the lungs can also cause the need for this surgery.
